Say hello to the “College Student Football League”
Hey there,
A new contender for the future of college football has emerged: the “College Student Football League.” It’s a proposal backed by CEOs, sports industry insiders, and education officials from all over the country.
But what’s it all about? Today we’re looking through what we know already about the CSFL – which includes collective bargaining, a Premiere League-style promotion system, and more.

Say Hello to the “College Student Football League”
Earlier this month, a group of business leaders and higher education officials released their plan for a novel college football league, one that’s more or less entirely separate from the NCAA. They call it the “College Student Football League” – creative name, I know – and, while it’s still in its infant stages, I thought it might be important to talk about.
The league has some big names backing it already: Duke legend and current managing director of Olympic basketball Grant Hill; Dee and Jimmy Haslam, who own the Cleveland Browns and co-own the Milwaukee Bucks; and Mark Abbott, the former President and cofounder of the MLS, to name just a few. And we’re leaving off a ton of important names.
But what exactly does this supercharged group want? We’re going to talk about their plan for the future of college sports right now – it’s structure, viability, and more. What would an NCAA-less college football league actually look like? Let’s find out.
