🏅Private schools are about to dominate recruiting in Texas

It all comes down to one bill in the State Senate

Hey there,

Not too long ago we ran a piece on how college athletics admissions could be changing drastically over the next four years. In that piece, we discussed two bills in Texas that could curb international student-athlete participation. Well today, we’re going to talk about what would actually happen if those bills (which functionally say the same thing) got passed in the state’s legislature – and which schools would benefit most from the law.

At least in terms of on-field/court performance, the law would benefit private schools massively while disadvantaging public schools. Why? Well, if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you’re about to find out. If you’re not, sign up here. Let’s get into it.

Some Context…

If you didn’t read our first piece that discusses this topic, you should read it here – it gets into the philosophical discussion around limiting international student-athletes from playing in the U.S. But Texas’ SB 1319 bill was a very small part of that piece, and it’s the whole point of this whole piece, so we should probably explain it a bit more.
