🏅McNeese's Manager is making over $100K in NIL
Plus, EA is giving college football players a pay raise
Hey there,
Last Thursday there were 64 teams in the March Madness field. Less than a week later, we’re down to just sixteen. Life happens fast, and the NCAA tournament moves even faster.
But there’s been a whole lot of NIL money doled out along the way already – mostly to players, but some is even going to team managers, like Amir Khan, who we’re talking about in today’s edition. Then we’re examining at the ramifications of EA’s increased NIL offer for College Football 26. Lastly, we’re taking a closer look at Louisville’s improbable rise to the top of the NIL world. It’s all coming up now – Let’s get into it!

McNeese’s Manager is Cashing In on NIL
March Madness is famous for turning players, teams, and fans into overnight sensations… but what we’ve seen with McNeese State’s student manager, Amir Khan, is unprecedented. He went viral for his walkouts with the team. Somehow, less than a week later, he’s worth over $100K in NIL.
McNeese manager Amir “Aura” Khan now has a customized Under Armour jumpsuit. Company reps flew into Providence last night.
I’m told he has 12 NIL deals, all totaling well into the six figures. Buffalo Wild Wings, TickPick and TurboTax are the three biggest. Nothing like March.

For those of you wondering, McNeese spent less than $2 million total for their basketball roster this year. Amir Khan alone is probably making about as much, if not more, than some players on the team.
Oh, and he’s not going away anytime soon, either. NC State just hired McNeese head coach Will Wade to their coaching vacancy… and Khan is allegedly following him there, although that claim has been disputed. The whole thing begs the question… How high can a student manager’s NIL valuation actually go? (More)
EA is Increasing their NIL Offer for College Football 26
In order for College Football 25 to be produced last year, EA Sports needed to dole out a tons of NIL money to every football player in the country. Well, because the game was so successful, they’re actually more than doubling their NIL offer from last season, from $600 to $1500.
EA Sports will pay players $1,500 each in NIL for College Football 26 compared to 2025's $600, per @ChrisVannini

This change is ultimately a testament to the game’s success last year, where it became the #1 selling game of 2024. It also surpassed NBA 2K21 as the best-selling sports video game ever, numbers that EA are hoping to grow even further with this year’s installment.
There is one downside to this though: with the football price-tag going up, it’s reasonable to infer that a college basketball game is currently on the back-burner. EA hasn’t made any sort of basketball game since 2018, and this move seems to further solidify their commitment to football. (More)
Louisville Expected to Spend Big in the Portal
While Pat Kelsey’s first year as head coach was a relative success, March proved somewhat disappointing for Louisville this year. The Cardinals lost to Creighton in the first round of the tournament, and in a flash, the nearly $20 million they spent on their roster year was gone.
Don’t think they’re down and out though. In fact, it seems like Louisville may actually be in a better position to compete next year, as reports are suggesting they could spend up to eight figures in the transfer portal:

“Right now is not the time,” Kelsey said after the Creighton loss. “We’ll do a great job in the transfer portal and put a great team together that will compete for a championship. I have all the confidence in the world that’s going to happen.” (More)
